Matt Groening's hilarious cartoon comedy series "The Simpsons" (which was first broadcast in 1987 as part of the Tracey Ullman show, where it stayed for three seasons until it became a show in its own right in 1989) is my absolute favourite TV programme - it's so witty and well-observed. In my humble opinion it is the best television series ever made, and it is certainly one of the most popular TV series of all-time all around the world. There's really not much else I can say about The Simpsons other than if (somehow) you've never seen it, you really ought to consider getting hold of at least one season to watch on DVD. Below are some images from the series (including 15 animated GIFs), plus some music (including three MP3s), a movie clip and some games. (Click here to view a page all about "The Simpsons Movie".)

Here are the five main members of the Simpsons family (i.e. the stars of the show) in their classic "sitting on the sofa" pose from the programme's opening credits. They are (from left to right) Marge, Maggie, Lisa, Bart and Homer:

Here are the Simpsons as they looked when they appeared for the first time ever on the Tracey Ullman show in 1987 - they gained their more familiar look when they were given their own series in 1989:

"Find The Simpsons Game" - The picture below shows almost every single character ever to appear in the series. See how quickly you can find all five main members of the Simpsons family in it (a bit like the classic "Where's Wally" / "Where's Waldo" game). If you get stuck, click on the picture to see the solution:

Here, just for the fun of it, are some Simpsons animated GIFs - point your mouse at each one to see its description:

X-ray Lisa and Bart Simpson Marge Simpson holding baby daughter Maggie (and other important items) Homer Simpson crawling in search of food (preferably donuts), or beer (preferably "Duff"), or both
Principal Skinner (Bart's Headteacher) chasing Bart Maggie crawling Greetings from Krusty the Clown
Marge laughing Moe the Bartender (and owner of "Moe's Tavern", Homer's favourite drinking establishment) Barney Gumble (Homer's best / only drinking buddy) belching
It's time for "Duff Beer"! (Homer's favourite drink)

"The Simpsons Wallpaper" - Here is another picture of the Simpsons. It is 640 x 480 pixels in size, and so is suitable for use as your desktop wallpaper if you wish. As above, it is 640 x 480 pixels in size, and so again is suitable for use as your desktop wallpaper if you wish. A regular feature of The Simpsons programme is an outrageously funny, ultra-violent spoof of "Tom and Jerry" that the Simpsons family like to watch on their TV. It is called "The Itchy and Scratchy Show". Click on either of the animated GIFs of Itchy and Scratchy below to listen to the show's main title music (MP3 format - 150 KB):

"Find The Simpsons Game 2" - For another bit of Simpsons fun, now you've seen six more of the characters from the series, why not see how quickly you can find them in the multi-character picture above - that's Principal Skinner, Krusty the Clown, Moe the Bartender, Barney Gumble, Itchy and Scratchy... (If you get stuck, click here to see the solution.)

Here are a few more Simpsons animated GIFs - as before, point your mouse at each one to see its description:
